Protest Proposition 8, Saturday Nov. 15

[FROM FACEBOOK GROUP]
Dallas TX Proposition 8 Protest Rally
Saturday, November 15th 12:30 to 2:00pm
Dallas City Hall
1500 Marilla St
Dallas, TX 75201
On Election Day of this year while the world celebrated a historical moment, LGBT inequality was being written into the California, Florida, Arizona and Arkansas constitutions. In California where LGBT people had enjoyed marriage equality since June our rights were ripped away from us over night.
Since the elections, tens of thousands of people have been pouring into the streets throughout California in protest over the passing of Prop 8. Dallas’ Protest is part of a nationwide peaceful day of action against Prop 8. This effort coordinated through the website www.JoinTheImpact.com will take place at exactly the same time this coming Saturday in front of City Halls throughout the country.
Please join us this Saturday, November 15 at 12:30 PM, in front of City Hall for a peaceful protest rally with community speakers.
Let us show California, and the nation, that we will stand united until we have Equality.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR COMMUNITY ORGANIZER, ETTA:
Parking: Can someone familiar with this area recommend parking suggestions? There are people coming far and wide to this event so we need some suggestions.
Flags: We would like to have all Flags represented: USA, TX, Pride, Organizations. Please bring yours. Also, if everyone can run by this store and spend about $2 and then share with others, this would be AWESOME. Thank you Cary for the suggestion and the legwork on this!!
Please see details: The Flag Store on Haskell has them pretty cheap. http://www.theflagstore.com/mini.html You can get 4″ x 6″ rayon flags for $1.40 in bulk (13 or more), and the 8″ x 12″ flags for $2.90. The 8×12 cotton flags are even cheaper, $1.10, and the Muslin are only .40. See link above. They do not appear to have Rainbow Flags.
Here is their address:

Signs: Please bring your signs and if possible extras. There are some you can download on the net such as here: http://www.against8.blogspot.com (please please please NO MORMON HATING SIGNS!!!!) You can also go to My MySpace page and in the left column, second video down, are signs from last Sunday’s Rally in Calfiornia’s state capital, Sacramento. There are some great signs. (I wish peeps would understand the “chickens 1, gays 0″ one here …that’s one of my favs… )
Please keep to the point: We stand united with our brothers and sisters in California and around the nation. “What do we want? EQUAL RIGHTS. When do we want them? NOW” “Don’t fight H8 with H8″ “Equality Now” etc. You get the idea.
Attitude: PEACEFUL PEACEFUL PEACEFUL. This point can not be stressed enough. We are working hand in hand with our FRIENDS at the Dallas Police Department. We want this protest to have NO INCIDENTS. NOT ONE! No bafoons jumping on police cars, rogue marchers running down the streets, drunk and disorderly conduct. No Spontaneous marches down streets. No bickering and fighting with anyone. There will be spotters throughout the crowd working with DPD to make sure everyone is safe and PEACEFUL.
