YFT receives donation of 12 new computers
As Youth First Texas plans for its growth in 2009, its computer lab will also be getting an unexpected expansion thanks to a generous donation from EDS, an HP company.
Employees at EDS, an HP company utilized the HP Giving in Kind program to purchase 12 new HP desktop computers and monitors for Youth First Texas. The HP Giving in Kind program allows HP employees to purchase HP products at a deep discount for qualified 501(c)3 organizations. Prior to the donation, the YFT computer lab consisted of a variety of computers that were generously donated throughout the years. The new computers will allow YFT to further expand its GED program and offer other computer related activities.
In honor of the new computer lab, YFT hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, February 19th at the YFT Center on 5415 Maple Avenue, Suite 225, Dallas, Texas 75235.
Youth First Texas supports gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons between the ages of 14-22 in north Texas and beyond. The mission is to provide group interaction and individual support for GLBTQ youth by providing age appropriate activities, programs, and resources that facilitate empowerment embrace diversity, and self-acceptance developing tomorrow’s leaders. YFT is able to produce a wide array of programs and services such as a mentor program, a GED program, a youth leadership board and a variety of other social activities. On a weekly basis YFT generally sees over one hundred youth.
