Started in 1999, Youth First Texas is the only 501(c)3-certified organization in the Dallas area that is exclusively committed to providing opportunities for life skills, leadership development, peer support and educational advancement to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trangender and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth through the age of 22.
With an estimate of 50,000 LGBTQ youth in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, the services of Youth First Texas have proven invaluable. Relevant services, including recreational activities, leadership development, education opportunities and social services are often denied to those who need them most due to homophobia or lack of resources.

Some youth are fortunate enough to have an accepting home environment, but a larger percentage feel as though they live in isolation and fear, and this group makes up a staggering 50% that contemplates suicide every day. The heart of Youth First Texas hopes to promote the idea that these youth are not alone, and they should never feel that way.
