Youth Board

Youth who have successfully completed Leadership Corps can serve as members of the Youth Board. Elected for a term of six months, the members work with the Executive Board to develop Big Group/programming, fundraising events and outreach activities to support LGBTQA youth in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Current Members:

Victor Rodriguez,

Co-Chair

Vic considers Youth First Texas to be a “lifesaver” that has taught him “a lot about the Gay Rights movement and the LGBTQ community.” He joined the Youth Board in order to “give back” and “improve on [his] leadership skills.” He hopes that, through his involvement with the Youth Board, he will “leave a legacy” that helps “other youth get inspired.”

Hai Duong,

Co-Chair

Hai considers Youth First Texas to be both a place “where friends hang out” and where they engage in “community serving projects and self-empowering opportunities. He became a part of the Youth Board because he wanted to be an integral part “of an organization [he] felt an attachment to.” Hai hopes that he will help “fuel the success of our organization in the community” through his involvement.

Alex Langley,

Treasurer

Steven Richmond,

Secretary

Steven thinks that Youth First Texas is “a place for hope, inspiration, fun and social connection” that can serve as a “second home.” He joined the Youth Board because he wanted “to develop a leadership position among [his] peers” and hopes that with his involvement he will be able to bring “new ideas that will inspire youth to be involved” in the organization.

Erika Ochoa,

Public Relations

Erika believes Youth First Texas to be the embodiment of “the future, the hope and the movement.” She became a part of the Youth Board because she “didn’t want to be that youth that just complains,” she “wanted to be that youth that gets up and does something about it.” It is her hope that through her involvement she will “inspire other allies to get involved in the GLBTQ community.”

Giancarlo Mossi,

Fundraising Committee

Giancarlo thinks of Youth First Texas as his “second family,” and he joined the Youth Board because he felt that he had reached “the peak of [his] leadership capabilities” and that he needed “to strive for something bigger.” He hopes to bring “structure, loyalty devotion and commitment” through his involvement with the Youth Board.

Shawn Tripp,

Fundraising Committee

Shawn sees Youth First Texas as “a welcoming home” that is like “family.” He became a part of the Youth Board because he wants to learn about “non-profit business” so that some day he can “work in it.” Among his many qualifications, Shawn hopes to bring “diversity” and his “drive for equality” through his involvement.

John McKnight,

Outreach Committee

Alex Parrish,

Outreach Committee

Alex believes that Youth First Texas serves as “a positive influence for our community” that doubles as a “family” for those who walk through its doors. He became involved with the Youth Board because he “thought it would be a great opportunity to help the organization,” and he hopes that he can bring “more outreach opportunities and events” through his involvement.
