Recreational Activities

Youth First Texas holds several activities at the center that youth can be involved in, as well as participate in off-site. Our weekly activities include:

Dallas PUMP!:
Go to Dallas Pump Web Site
A youth-organized program, PUMP is the youth choir at YFT. Youth will decide on types of music and specific pieces to practice, and will perform at special events held by Youth First. PUMP is a non-discriminatory choir, so no lessons needed! Held Wednesday nights at 7 PM

The Writer’s Workshop:
This is a place to practice, practice, practice! Come work on your writing skills, focus on making your writing clear and enjoyable, and get feedback from the group and facilitator on how to sharpen your piece. Held TBA

Open Mic Night:
Youth are encouraged to bring poetry, music, or art to share with the open mic group. This group is for sharing pieces of art that are meaningful and show your talents. Youth are welcome to share or even just come support. Held the second and fourth Saturdays from 7-9 PM

Dinner & a Movie:
Come socialize and eat with your YFT family! Dinner is cooked by either a volunteer or youth and is served to everyone at the center. After dinner, help choose a movie to wind down the night. Held every Friday evening; dinner is served at approximately 6 PM

The Youth Defenders:
A new small group to Youth First, The Youth Defenders is a self-defense class focused on learning about yourself, learning how to protect yourself, and having fun. Held every Tuesday at 8 PM

Throughout the year, we also participate in softball through the PSSA, and enjoy several cultural events, such as concerts by the Turtle Creek Chorale, theater performances by Uptown Players, and many other community functions.
